synopsis
The subject of this film documentary (59 minutes) is a music project conceived by the Dutch pop star Frédérique Spigt. She selects a group of Dutch-language singers from the blues, pop, country and jazz scene, with whom she has personal and/or professional ties. She writes a song with each of these people individually to be recorded for an album containing only duets. Among the artists are Barry Hay (GOLDEN EARRING famous for their international hit RADAR LOVE), Sarah Bettens (K’S CHOICE) and a never released song on tape by Herman Brood, who passed away recently.

For two weeks, Frédérique organizes a mobile studio in a charming and historic house. Every day she and her band of musicians receive an artist there, with whom she has a personal and intimate encounter, leading up to a struggle to arrive at singing a duet.

At various locations in and around the splendidly adorned house, conversations and situations develop between Frédérique and the artist involved. While sitting around the dinner table, funny or dramatic conversations and confessions occur, ultimately resulting in the recording of the duet in the same location.

Not only do we get to know Frédérique personally in a very special way through her anxiety and longing, despair and excitement, we also see the artists through her eyes seeing them in a different light to putting them under a different spotlight to the one their fans are accustomed to.

From an international perspective, this film unquestionably contain a very special and compact showcase of influential contemporary Dutch artists. As such, it is likely to stand out at film- and music festivals across the world.
